~~~ Fifty years from now it will not matter what my bank account was,
the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove ...
                                            ...but the world may be different because I was important
                                                                     in the life of a child.~~~
INFANTS
A New Step Daycare & Preschool knows how important it is to keep parents involved in their child's daily activities, development and milestones.
That's why we provide you with the following:
  • The building of personal relationships with each family
  •   Daily sheets to record and track the child's day
Mothers who are nursing are encouraged to continue to nurse. I allowed moms to bring breast milk in bottles, or breast milk baggies. Label with your child’s name and placed in a ziploc storage. I will hold to bottle feed all infants. I feel this is a great time to bond with a baby.
All bottles are prepared according to instructions on formula. They are always heated on bottle warmer or hot water. Microwaving is dangerous because bottle may have hot spots and burn an infant.
 A New Step Daycare & Preschool provides infants with supportive care to cater to their physical and emotional needs through their all-important first year of life.We give each infant the personal care, love and attention necessary to develop a close and trusted relationship. We offer activities that will help nurture their physical, social, motor and language development.
Physical activities: Encourage lifting of head, rolling, crawling, and sitting, climbing, standing and walking at appropriate times.
Social development: Play games such as pat-a-cake, peek-a-boo, sing songs and read infant books with colorful pictures. Allow infants the opportunity to explore their environment with exposure to toys and objects with vibrant colors and various textures.
Motor development: Encouragement of eye-hand coordination through grasping and following of objects. Language development: Building communication through facial expressions, smiling, laughing and sounds. Encouraging responses and starting simple words at 10-12 months of age.
 Playing with your child is an important part of helping him or her grows and learns.Our program is designed for your child to learn through play.
Learning and Growing
Through music: Your baby is learning auditory discrimination skills essential for language development and later for reading. By singing songs throughout the day, you are helping him begin to identify and respond to the sounds, pitches, and patterns of language. You're also helping to develop a strong emotional and social connection with your child.
Finger play: Action rhymes, and simple repetitive songs are important to a baby's development of language and memory as he learns to anticipate, predict, and attach words and meanings to actions sit your baby on your lap so he's facing you. Hold him under his arms, lift your heels, and let the bouncing begin. This game is best for older babies whose neck muscles are strong enough to support their head.Babies love this exuberant game of hide-and-seek. Show your baby how to cover his eyes, and then say the first couple of lines in a low voice to set the mood. Add some anticipation with the third line, and then throw up your hands and shout out the last line. Your baby will love quietly waiting, waiting...and then popping up like a jack-in the-box
After the children place the date on the calendar, we sing the 7 days of the week song and then we start our morning circle time activity.
Our Daily Activities
Circle Time-Children start their day through experiences like storytelling, singing songs, show and tell and matching games. They learn to express their ideas, associate the written word with the spoken word and independently discover their world.
Art - Children experience art through the freedom of feeling, pulling, twisting, touching, tearing, pasting, bending, shaping, scraping, cutting, pounding and much more. They develop a feel for forms, color, balance, line and shape as well as gaining practice in problem solving. Through hands-on activity, children learn about various relationships, sharpen their powers of observation, and begin the process of logical thinking, and developing motor skills.
Music - Music activities give children opportunities to use their entire bodies for learning and exploring their surroundings. They can build awareness by listening to the many kinds of sounds, and experience the release and freedom of body movement. Children will be encouraged to test their vocal and kinesthetic abilities and to have fun while they are experimenting. We emphasize the enjoyment of participation.
Blocks- In this area children can stack and count blocks to assist them in learning weight, measurement, size and number concepts. They will develop problem-solving skills through trial and error. If a block structure falls, your child might try it a different way until satisfied with the results. They also build hand-to-eye coordination, and develop control of their wrists, hands and fingers.
Dramatic Play - Children can try new careers, make friends, learn to share and express different emotions. We have dress-up clothes, props and child-sized furniture that invite children to make believe. Children also learn life skills like turning knobs on and off or buttoning and zipping clothes.
Math- Children learn counting skills and sorting, patterning and putting materials in order. Math is presented as a way of finding things out or problem solving. Children will also begin to understand basic concepts such as big/little, large/small, same and different through manipulating small materials.
Science- Activities include playing with using magnets, living things, magnifiers, sand and water tables. Children have the opportunity to have hands-on, real-life activities that encourage a sense of discovery
